Interschool Participations

-Interschool Participations-

The official performance of the Senior Brass Band during this period other than the school functions were “Spirit of SPM 1999″ organized by St. Pauls Girl’s School Milagriya, “Twilight de Euphonius” Organized by Ananda College Colombo 10.

The Senior Brass Band became the runner up of the boys category within Colombo zone from the Out Door Band Display competition organized by the Western Music Unit of the Education Department, Sri Lanka in September 1999.

-First Interschool Participation-

“Thurstanite  Brass 2000” was organized and held at Nawarangahala by our own members of the band in the year  2000 under the 1st band leader Sandun Dalpatadu and deputy leader Rajitha Wijewardena. 10 invited national school bands around Colombo, western dancing group from St. Pauls Girl’s School Milagriya and the Sri Lanka Army Band performed. “Thurstanite Brass 2000” was also the farewell function of the 1st band leader Sandun Dalpatadu (1998 – 2000) and duties were handed to the next leader Rajitha Wijewardena

  • “The Spirit of SPM 2000”  organized by St. Pauls Girl School Milagriya.

  • “ Brass Capriccioso  2000” Organized by Sirimavo Balika Vidyalaya.

  • “ Grandioso” Band Fiesta 2002 Organized by Visaka  Vidyalaya  Colombo 4.

  • “ Prashasthi 2000 ” Indoor Band Competition  ( All Island ) by  Ananda college    Colombo 10.

  • “ Mahanama Brass 2001 ” Organized by Mahanama Collage Colombo 3

  • “ Spirit of SPM 2001 ” St Pauls Girls Scholol Milagriya

  • “ Feast “O” Royal 2001”  by Royal Collage Colombo 7.

  • “ Nalanda Rhythms  2002” by Nalanda Collage Colombo 10. 

  • “Vivaco Rhythems” Organized by Devi Balika Vidyalaya , Colombo 8.

  • “ Thustanite Brass 2002 ” – Our own musical evening was organized by the Senior Brass Band and was held at the Elphinston Theatre Colombo 10, in 2002. This also marked the farewell of the 2nd band leader Rajitha Wijewardena (2000 -2002) as he handed duties to the 3rd band leader Charaka Samarakoon (2002 – 2004)

  • “ The Voice of Kolonnawa Balika Vidyalya  2002 ” by Kolannawa Balika Vidayalya

  • Asian Athletics Games Out Door Display at Sugathadasa Stadium in 2002 By Ministry of Sports

  • Independence Day Celebrations Out Door Display at Independence Square Colombo 7 in 2003 organized by Ministry  of Sports.

  • Provincial National Games Out Door Display at Sugathadasa Stadium in 2003 organized  by Ministry of Sports.

  • “ Rhythms and Melodies ” Indoor Concert Organized by Ministry of  Education Western Music Unit in 2003.

-The   Brass Band In The Years 2000-2002-
The 2nd band leader was Rajith  Wijiwardana and the deputy was Charaka Smarakoon from year 2000 April to 2002 April.

-The Brass Band In The Years 2002-2004-
The 3rd band leader Charaka Samarakoon and deputy leader Kasun Lakmal Peris are carrying out their duties as for today. The Snior Brass Band will be organizing ” Thurstanite Brass 2004″ in July 2004 at the B.M.I.C.H – Colombo
