24 Schools from various parts of the Island will scrum down in celebration of Thurstan rugby golden Jubilee on the 24th & 25th at the Royal College Sports Complex. This U 20 Sevens tournament is organized by the Thurstan Rugby Golden Jubilee Committee headed by Old Thurstanite, Mr. Chula Dharmadas and will be the first showdown of the U20 teams in this 2007 school rugby season. A press conference was held on the 14th March at the CH&FC sports club. The committee is determined to make this event a gallant rugby extravaganza and all the participants will be treated to a rugby fiesta with lots of entertainment.
All the participating teams will be given all the facilities such as food, refreshments, and certificates & cash awards for the winners exceeding Rs.100,000.00 in total. All out station schools will be given accommodation, meals & transport for 2 days. Another highlight of this event is that participating teams will not be charged any tournament fee & the committee has decided to have this 2 day event FREE ENTRANCE for the spectators as well. ALL THURSTANITES & RUGBY FANS ARE INVITED TO WITNESS THE EVENT! There will not a repeat of this at least for another 25 years where Thurstan will celebrate 75 years in 2032!
